Hi I’m Brad Yzermans. I’d like to help you qualify for an affordable mortgage to purchase or refinance your home.
A professional tells you what you need to know, not what you want to hear.
Did you know in the last 12 months, 41% of all people who applied for a home loan were denied and 35% of those denials were WRONGLY denied? Many people won’t apply because their friend or neighbor got denied, which was probably in error! This means Loan Officer’s are making a lot of mistakes and some other lender (like me) could have gotten the loan approved. That’s not cool. Mortgage qualifying guidelines are constantly changing and often defy common sense, so don’t become a victim of the ‘too big to fail’ banks rigid guidelines, higher rates, higher fees, and unlicensed and/or inexperienced Loan Officers wrongly denying you of a home.
Six key benefits of working with me. You will…..
- Clearly understand all of your home loan options
- Learn how to purchase after experiencing a foreclosure, short sale, or bankruptcy
- Understand the approval process and qualifying criteria
- Learn quickly if you are approved and for how much
- Avoid costly mistakes before you get into a purchase contract
- Have peace of mind knowing your loan will actually fund
The government now calls me a state licensed Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO). I also have my Real Estate Salesperson license (#o1810137). Other common titles or descriptions of what I do are Home Ownership Educator, Mortgage Planner, or Loan Officer….they all work. The company I work for is First Priority Financial (CA DRE Broker #00654852, NMLS #3257), an FHA approved direct lender and mortgage broker…..a hybrid of sorts….the best of both worlds.
Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. (proverbs 3:13)
An Investment in knowledge pays the best interest. (Ben Franklin)
The purpose of this site is to educate and inform. To help people throughout Southern California and the Inland Empire learn more about mortgages, interest rates, and real estate. Why is that important? To empower wisdom and understanding. Because the quality of your decisions are dependent on the quality of advice and information you receive.
Through my pursuit of playing on the PGA Tour, I learned early on that becoming an expert in a chosen trade or craft requires years of dedication, reading, practice, experience, and finally……communicating what you know for the benefit of others. In today’s crazy housing market, you can’t afford to leave your dream of home ownership to your best friends aunt’s cousin who has a nephew that ‘does’ loans ‘on the side’. You need someone who wants what you want…….someone you can trust, who is tenacious, and can prove their results. (cough cough…..the latter is me by the way:-))
Having been around the block a time or two, you learn the short cuts and pot holes to avoid. Experience is the best teacher.
Best of both worlds…..the hybrid lender
Working for a direct lender and mortgage broker, First Priority Financial can fund your loan through their own bank, or broker it to another lender if needing a special ‘niche’ loan program. This is very important because most mortgage banks are regulated by the Dept. of Corporations, which can restrict their ability to broker out and find you an appropriately matched loan program. That’s often why they don’t tell you about all your options……because they don’t have access to them.
Compensation Disclosure: I’m paid by my employer….not you. But I don’t get paid unless I get you want you want…….a funded loan approval and a low interest rate.
Whether FPF funds your loan directly or brokers it out, and regardless of the interest rate you choose, I cannot not make more money either way. This allows me to find a niche lender or loan program that will get you the lowest rate/fees and benefit you the most…….not me.
The ability of First Priority Financial to act as a mortgage broker also allows me to do the painfully boring comparison shopping for you. This saves you time, prevents your credit from being run multiple times, and eliminates the confusion of having two or three other loan officers calling you at odd hours of the night trying to ‘sell’ you into working with them!
I typically post two to four times a week. To make sure you don’t miss any of my earth shattering, life changing blog posts, you can subscribe via email and I promise to send only one email that summarizes the weeks blog post. If you want content daily, you can subscribe via RSS, or do both.
I grew up in small town in Minnesota, had a normal childhood, never got detention in high school (OK, that’s not normal), went to college on a golf scholarship, and really enjoy where I am in life.
After playing college golf at San Jose State (1993, BA Psychology) and six years of professional golf as a PGA Member, I realized my desire to play the PGA Tour was not happening and decided it was time to get a real job (ouch!).
My career in mortgage lending began in 2004 (I swear, the housing crash is not my fault). Since the sub-prime mortgage meltdown began in 2007, 70% of the people in our industry have left the business. Fortunately my business began to thrive as a result of my commitment to these three core principles. Know your guidelines, understand the credit scoring model, and stay focused on helping home buyers and real estate agents adapt to the changes in our industry.
I have written two books. One is a guide for home buyers (soon to be released) and the other is a book on marketing strategies for Real Estate agents.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Tamara for eight years. We actually met online through a Christian Internet dating site. After 8 months of meeting her, I left my job in Minnesota to marry and help raise her son. We now have two boys, ages six and ten, a Springer Spaniel named Chip, and a cat named Hobbs. The cat wakes me up at least two times a night so I have an excuse for needing coffee to start the day.
In my free time (what’s that?), I enjoy playing golf, tennis, fishing, reading, watching movies, but most of all, creating memories with my wife and kids. I attend Generations Church where I have served in leadership, served as the Lead Usher, and served in various other helps ministries since 2005.
